Well, what can I say...? Kenadie never ceases to amaze me. Since deciding to be a scary witch for Halloween, she has had her mind set to what exactly she would look like; Red hair, mole, black dress, pointy hat...you know... the whole witch garb. Last night she carved her pumpkin... She specifically asked for Goofy, (artistic talent done by yours truly and the carvings from my wonderful husband) which came out very cute for such a hard drawing! Then today she got all dressed up and practiced her lines over and over again. "Trick or Treatttt!!" I think I heard this about 15 times today. "Mommy, Daddy...TRICK OR TREAT!"
All afternoon she was patiently waiting to see the moon come up to signal Trick or Treat! But that crafty moon decided to come out when the sun was still shining. That's just mean to do to a kid...no wait, that's just mean to do to a parent! Try explaining to a 2 year old that you have to wait for the sun to go down and the moon to come out when they are both right in front of you... haha I became liar for a few moments! So, as the sun went down and Jack-o-lanterns glowed bright, little miss (or should I say the scary witch) was brewing to get going.
The first house we hit was Debbie and Larry's. I figured, well, might as well hit the neighbors that count before she gets crabby and just wants to stop and eat all the candy. They needed to see the good side, because not even I wanted to see this witch at her finest! After a few houses, she got the swing of things and became totally impressed with the fact that she could walk up to a house, ring the doorbell (by the way is SUPER fun for a 2 year old) and all she had to do from there was smile and say "Trick or treat!" and in return she would get a piece of yummy candy. Figuring this out, she then began to run fromdoor to door screaming "Mommy, Daddy look, they gave me more candy!!" Then she'd peak into her pumpkin bag and shout "WOW! There's so much!" and proceed to the next house. It never got old... I loved it. The best was when she ran up and joined a group of kids that were trick or treating at my parents house and got candy from Gigi without her knowing. She thought it was hilarious that Gigi didn't know she was there because she was in costume! Classic Gigi! ;)
I kept giggling because my kid didn't go for the normal candy all the other kids wanted, nope... you could fill her bag of wop poppie's (i.e. lolli pops) and she'd be your best friend. (By the way, what happened to blow pops? Those were the best! And I'm not going to lie, I was planning on sangging a few for myself...but nothing!) Snickers, nah! I'll take five of those little wop poppie's thank you!
She had a great night, as did Aron and I! I can't believe my little girl is so big... where did the time go!?
FYI It's now 10:47pm and she just fell asleep after a HUGE sugar rush!
