In the midst of potty training, (2 weeks without any accidents) Aron and I took the family to Disneyland...on a 6 hour drive. Was that the smartest to drive instead of fly with a potty training peanut?? Hmm, you'll find out...
It's Friday morning, 6am and we hit the road to visit Kenadie's best friends, Minnie, Mickey and Goofy. She was the perfect little girl, singing Mickey songs, playing games and just having fun. About 2 hours into the trip we stop for a potty break hoping someone hasn't already pee'd her diaper... nope, good! She went in the big girl potty and we were on our way. And I will tell you, this was the way of the pottying the whole trip...Until Disneyland.
Ok, I get it... When kids are excited they don't want to stop to go to the bathroom. Thank God, Aron and I brought diapers to put on her just in case. Because, I think it's safe to say, she forgot she was potty trained the whole day at Disney and was more focused on finding those friends of hers.
Moving on to more important things. Disneyland was a blast... She went on a ton of different rides: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (wasn't a huge fan of the loud rides with the painted wood critters popping out in your face...who could blame her really), Dumbo (loved it!), Tea Cups (loved it more), Matterhorn (best ride ever!), The American Ride...Oh, I bet you are wondering what this ride is. So did we. She asked to go on it 10 times and upon figuring out what it was, we just ignored her and found another character to love on. But then it appeared, the Merry-go-Round... American Ride, potatoe-potAtoe. (Loved it), Toon Town mini roller coaster (Hands up the whole way). After two days in Disneyland, it was safe to say she loved the wild roller coasters more than the little kiddie rides. Typical Kenadie!
As for the characters, they were a dream come true to her. The first one we saw was Goofy. When she saw him, she went crazy with excitement. Kind of along the same lines as if we had seen Brad Pitt. When it was her turn to run up to him, this is what we got. Please look at her face in this photo...
Next was Minnie Mouse's House... she had us in for some cheesecake and tour of her house. It was lovely! Apparently, Grandma was doing the laundry in her house and I was doing the dishes and she sat at the table and ate with Auntie Chey, Chey. Then the big event came... the minute we had been waiting for! MICKEY MOUSE! (trumpets sound)
Yes that's right, we got to see Mickey. With no fright or nervousness, she ran over to him and gave him the biggest hug imaginable! He gave her an autograph and as she left, she turns around and blows him a kiss. It was so sweet! He then put his hand over his heart...uhh so precious!
At one point, when we were coming into the park, Mickey Mouse was marching down Main street in a mini parade all to himself, stopped, and gave Kenadie a high 5. Alright, now this was her favorite moment. We are still hearing about this today. Actually, when the big parade started in the afternoon, we were sitting on the road. My child held her hand out almost that whole parade waiting for Mickey to come back by as she was convinced he was going to give her another high 5. It was safe to say it was her first bought with disappointment. Even though the parade was amazing! We saw all the characters and even Santa!!
One of the best comments of the weekend had to be after she saw Tinker Bell. I believe it was "Mommy, I saw Tinker Bell! And she had green boobies!!" Again, this is something she is still telling people. Odd, but hilarious!
The whole weekend was an absolute blast. Seeing her experience Disneyland for the first time was a dream come true for Aron and I. She was in such aww and amazement with each character she saw...so cute! Even the hotel we stayed at amazed her... she rode the Alligator ride everyday, at least twice. You may think to yourself, "Alligator ride??" Ahh yes, we wondered why she called the ELEVATOR the Alligator ride as well. It fell into the same category as the American Ride. Just a little word association... very clever :)
