One Fine Day

March 9, 2008

I've always told Aron that Kenadie changes in the blink of an eye. It seems at some times, you can barely turn away and she is doing something new. He was always skeptic of my wisdom ;) but this one particular day, I was able to drive the point home.

Aron was gone for about 2 hours golfing with his friends from about 2-4. During this time Kenadie and I were rolling about the house giggling, drooling (ok, she was doing most of this) and just having a blast. I stood up to walk into the kitchen and get a drink of water. I left Kenadie on her tummy rolling about the living room. When I looked back over to her I noticed that she was sitting up. Wait, rewind... wasn't she on her tummy? Yup! She successfully was able (somehow) to go from lying down to sitting up. For those who aren't parents, this apparently is a good milestone for babies at this age. Therefore, I got extremely excited trying to get her to do it again. But it always seemed like the minute I turned away it happened. Of course!

So, now it's SNACK TIME!! I put Little Miss in her high chair with her sippy and her favorite fruity puffs. Today we were enjoying the strawberry banana puffs. Usually, she would gum them up, spit them out, squeeze them and then maybe put them back in her mouth to be swallowed. Today though, I noticed she was eating them like a champ. One puff, two puff, three puffs...all down the hatch. And another thing was happening...she seemed to be chewing better than before. So I was curious and decided to check for teeth... and low and behold she has two little teeth poppin' up from her gums. I swear, the day before, there were no teeth...not even lines of little white teeth popping through. This child is amazing! Two big teeth and sitting up from her tummy! What else could she do?

Let me tell you. Back to the living room where we were playing with her Fisher Price Noah's Ark that sings fun songs and has noisy little animals, Kenadie's eye caught the new movie that Daddy got for her "Ratatouille". Knowing that she isn't supposed to pull down the DVD's from the entertainment center she fixated and set forth CRAWLING to her destination. Yes, that's right, I said crawling. Now, it was the shakiest, slowest crawl ever, but it was highly impressive and again, out of nowhere! When she got her little grubby hands on "Ratatouille", I had a hard time saying "No, No" because I was so excited that she just crawled. So I let her get a few good licks on it and then said "No, No." I guess you can say she had the sweet taste of satisfaction for a moment.

Ok, let's recap... I've been telling Aron for months that things change with babies in a blink of an eye. He left for 2 hours. Within that time, Kenadie, sat up from lying down, sprouted two teeth and crawled. What do you all think? Point proven? Yes, I think so!
