Last year was such a fun Easter. It's when I began to realize that holidays have more substance when a little one is around. And let's be honest here, Kenadie has enough personality for 3 little kids. At this time last year, she was just starting to walk and thought the Easter Eggs were chew toys versus sources of delicious candy.
We started off this Easter by giving Daddy a heart attack...Dying Easter Eggs!! I've never seen anyone so stressed out in my life over the join of putting color on a little egg. I got Kenadie dressed in an old t-shirt of mine and positioned the cups over the tile area of the counter top, not the carpet.
When I handed Kenadie the first egg and told her to gently put it in the cup that's when I heard, KKKKRRRR PLOP!!! right into the red cup. Red dye went everywhere!! Haha... I saw Aron turn white and then 4 shades of red. Nothing got on the carpet or his clothing, just on the counter where the white grout came perfectly clean.
So, we learned with the first egg, the second and third were much better.
We had half and half eggs, bright pink eggs, blue, green and every color in between. She was proud at the end...and dirty!
Once we got little Miss K to bed, who sang "Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail" until she fell asleep, we noticed that the Easter Bunny made his appearance, dropped more than just little jelly beans and headed down the road. When it was time for Kenadie to wake up and go find what the Easter Bunny left behind, she was a bit inquisitive about the giant hopping bunny. And who wouldn't be, honestly!
She devoured her basket, hunted for eggs and jumped in the car to see what the Easter Bunny had left at Papa and Gammy's house.
Little did she know that we found the toy of the day... a $3 bubble blower that would make hundreds of bubbles with a push of a button. It was the best thing ever!
Don't worry though, it didn't over take the fact that the Easter Eggs we were hunting for were filled with jelly beans and chocolate. Trust me, Kenadie didn't let that slip by.
It seemed as though Aron, Chey and myself were not only hunting for lotto eggs, but also to try and beat Kenadie to all the candy eggs.
She was on such a sugar high, that I'm pretty sure she found 90% of the candy eggs out there. If she came across a hard boiled egg, it was lobbed into the basket with no importance. Well, maybe not for her, but Mommy LOVES deviled eggs...Mmm Mmm Mmm!
I can't believe my little girl is becoming so big and smart. I'm amazed everyday by the things she says and does. We really couldn't have asked for a better Easter!
