Happy 1st Birthday Kenadie!

7/27/08

Can you believe it? We survived our first year both as new parents and without sleep. Who knew it was possible? And may I say congratulations to Kenadie for surviving with these two first timers... you did well kid! It's been a blast and although I miss my little snugly 6lb munchkin, I wouldn't dare pass up the fun we are having now.

On July 26th, we had friends and family in town to celebrate her first year of royalty in the Bishop Manor :) Princess Kenadie had the perfect backyard bbq with a touch of Cinderella of course! She started her day off by hunting down Uncle Justin trying to use her cuteness to let her open up her present early... it didn't work. He's a tough cookie to crack.
Kenadie dressed up in her pretty pink princess dress adorned with a princess sash and we journeyed off to Grandma's House. The house was filled with Cinderella EVERYTHING! A 4 ft Cinderella cutout was greeting guests at the front and back door. Two cakes were the centerpiece of the kitchen table. One cake was filled with all the Disney Princesses and the other was a small Cinderella cake just for Kenadie. Everywhere you turned you either say a sparkly 1 hanging from the ceiling or on a table, or you caught a glimpse of Cinderella herself. Even in the pool there were princess beach balls to play with and a Cinderella bubble maker. With all these fun decorations, the real fun came from everyone who filled the house with laughter and chatter.
Once everyone joined the party, we all decided to jump in the pool since it was 100 degrees out and most importantly, the birthday girl is a water bug! She sported her cutest Cinderella bathing suit and sunglasses and once again stole the well deserved spot light. For dinner everyone enjoyed tri-tip and sausages and many yummy sides. Kenadie had no problems eating her heart out and sipping from her Cinderella cup.
Then came CAKE!! We lit the candle and marched the cake out to our own little princess. I guess no matter how old you are, getting another year older is hard for even the bravest 1 year old.

Stages of the Cake

"Um...ok, so last time I checked I couldn't play with fire"

"Oh GOD! This is what everyone is talking about...AGING!"

"Wait a minute... let me get this straight. I can eat ALL of this sugar, make a mess and you all will cheer and clap for me? FANTASTIC!"

"Daddy?? Would you like some?"

"Mommy?? You?"

"Enough sharing"

"So good...!!"

"Anyone else?? Cake?"

"No?? Ok, I'll finish it, thank you!"

"So this is a sugar rush... I LIKE IT!"

Once the cake was through and Kenadie was permanently blue, she rushed inside to open up all her wonderful presents. I thought she'd lose the joy after opening up a few presents... but not this kid. Each present was just as great as the last one she opened. She just loved all the attention and all the toys she was spoiled with. I mean, let's be honest, who doesn't love a birthday?

"Everyone look how fabulous this is!"

"I'm so going to master this game!"

"See these fish in here, Uncle Teddy? I've got your number...They aren't real... now go ahead and fill it up with water and place your pretty fish in it... thank you!"

"Mommy, these are my toys... please calm down."

"OHHH BABY!"

In the middle of opening up presents, I found a noise maker and began to make some noise. You would think that Kenadie is used to my noise making tendencies, but this particular horn was not only startling her, but intriguing to her as to how I was doing it. We had a good 5 minutes of hard belly laughter as she would jump, giggle and cry about the horn.

"That's so funny Mommy!"

"Whoa... that's not so funny anymore!"

This was the perfect weekend for the perfect little princess! Happy Birthday Peanut!! WE LOVE YOU!
