The Big Zipper...That Just Didn't Zip

4/1/2007

It's time for the retirement of my normal clothes. I moved from rubber banding my regular pants so that I could feel a bit more comfortable to not even being able to ZIP them. It all started about a week ago when I realized that using the pant extenders were just prolonging the inevitable...maternity pants. Now every book will try to tell you to shove yourself into your normal pants as long as you can. Which I did. But I felt that the moment my zipper just wouldn't go up or even stay up, that it was time to journey into the elasto pants that are Oh SO Attractive...NOT! I could see it now, sitting in a meeting with a group of business owners while being given those awkward eyes trying to focus above the pant line as to not send embarrassing signals that my zipper was down and my granny panties were hanging out. (YES PEOPLE, you have to venture away from the pretty undies and go for comfort on all levels.) To avoid this tiny nightmare, I found myself in the next maternity shop buying the expando pants.

Awkward... Both the look of the pants and the way I felt...all of it...awkward! Standing in front of the fitting room mirror, more realization came. My belly is getting bigger, but still not 100% maternity worthy and too big for normal clothes. But, I still did it, I bought the pants to avoid looking like a fat girl in denial of my weight gain by showing off my muffin top. Now you'll see me sporting maternity pants and a baggy maternity shirt to hide the over sized elastic band. No, not ideal for someone who likes to think she has style, but comfortable. :)

If you laugh... please don't do it in front of me. I might beat you a little bit!
